Control the Controllable
Control the Controllable

Each day, take a moment to start truly looking at what you can actually control.

Fundamentally what is in our control is

  1. Our Perception (what we make things mean )
  2. Our Actions (what we say, don’t say, how we react, respond, physiology)
  3. Our Decisions (choices)

That is it. We cannot influence the weather, truly make anyone else do what we want them too, and often times not due to a lack of trying. taking control of your controllable stuff can legitimately transform all aspects of your life.

What distinguishes us as a human being from other species is our capacity to govern our mind and not let the outside world run us. No matter what we experience in our life, we can change our perception of it.

John Milton once said that you can make a heaven out of a hell or a hell out of a heaven by asking certain questions that make you cognisant and aware of information you may have been unconscious of.

Any time spent on things outside of our control is time wasted, because it’s energy and time we could have given attention too for the things we can control.

Which leads me to an observation.

Many of us spend an enormous amount of time complaining, we invest energy, focus, awareness complaining.

What do we complain about a lot of the time? Things out of our control.

I'm yet to find some one who truly complains about what's in their control (their perceptions, choices, decisions). It is generally someone else, or something else that is the target of complaint.

Complaining is like throwing up. Makes us feel better, but anyone else around us will feel worse.

Take time today, immediately after reading this, focus on what you can truly control, put your attitude and effort here consistently, this is how you begin to transform your mindset.
